Gunpowder Chesapeakes are farm raised at Paradise Rock Ranch in Duvall, WA, located in the heart of the Snoqualmie Valley.  Jack and Jill are our first Chessies and the foundation stock for our breeding program. Our breeding lines throw from Marjan Chesapeakes and Silvercreek Chesapeakes, both with an extensive and distinguished history of show and working dogs.  As such, our dogs are multi-purpose dogs; bred for both the conformation show ring and fieldwork and like most Chessies, provide our family with companionship and protection.

We are active members of the American Chesapeake Club and the Evergreen Chesapeake Bay Retriever Club. We follow the breeding guidelines set forth by the clubs to maintain our memberships.

Jack is evenly proportioned and balanced with a shoulder height measurement of 23.5 inches.  He weighs approximately 80 pounds at 24 months old and his thick, wavy coat is dark deadgrass in color.  Jack has a happy-go-lucky attitude with a bright and cheery disposition.  He is intelligent, protective of his family, property and livestock; and has an excellent work ethic in the field.

Jack’s show career started at 6 months old and he finished his confirmation CH title at 22 months old with 16 points and 3 majors.  Jack is now working on completing his AKC GCH title; he currently has 18 points, 4 majors, and has defeated 5 champions of record.  This spring, Jack has started field training and shows great promise of becoming a strong hunter.  We are excited to see what his future holds in the sporting arena.

Barn name “Jilly-Bean”
(Krogstadt’s Victory At Sea JH x Am/Can/Int'l CH Marjan’s Annies Song)

Jill is evenly proportioned with a shoulder height of 23 inches.  At 36 months of age, she weighs approximately 78 pounds and her thick and wavy coat is tan in color. Jill is very reserved and quiet with her affection; extremely gentle and respectful with stoic presence.  She is our constant shadow and protector, rarely taking her attention from us. She is a low energy “chessie” much of the time, except when it’s time to hunt.  Her “on” button is flipped when she spots a bumper or live bird.

Jill was shown in the confirmation ring as a puppy and she continues to be a show presence as our schedule allows.  Her true passion is in field work which has officially started in the spring of 2011. She is focused, energetic and driven when in the field and shows a strong work ethic to completing her tasks. In addition, she will be working on her CGC and Rally titles this year.

Possible breeding and puppies available, Christmas 2011.
